The Fore River Bridge carries Route 3A over the Weymouth Fore River on a 324-foot Warren through-truss lift span between two towers about 230 feet tall, replacing the temporary bridge that had served Quincy and Weymouth since 2003. MassDOT delivered it design-build through the White-Skanska-Koch Joint Venture, and Atlantic Bridge & Engineering was the steel erector. ABE erected both towers and their counterweights, the main sections pre-assembled at the former Fore River Shipyard, barged to the site and strand-jacked into place, then hung the wire ropes.

The lift span was assembled by ABE crews at the staging yard at the shipyard, decked and studded there, and floated into position in August 2016. On both shores ABE erected the approach spans, the temporary land shoring, the Quincy stair-tower steel, the stay-in-place deck and more than 60,000 shear studs, and produced the engineered erection plans for all of it, with the temporary bridge in service beside the work. The scope grew beyond erection: two companies went out of business and one left the joint venture during the job, so ABE stepped in to help complete the fabrication, took over the misc. metals installation, and kept the inventory and tracked the fabrication errors in the steel already made before we took it on. Traffic moved onto the new bridge in August 2017 and the project was completed in 2018.
